Prep roundup (Sept. 15): Arnold volleyball beats Rutherford

PANAMA CITY BEACH - The Arnold volleyball team held off county foe Rutherford for a 25-17, 25-20, 22-25, 24-26, 15-10 victory.

Arnold's (6-2) Haley Lanier had 18 kills and 10 digs while Maggie Johnson added eight kills and four aces. Katie Steelman had 14 kills, 16 digs, five blocks and five aces and Kristen Miller added 38 assists for the Marlins.

Rutherford (7-4) was led by Christin Beck with 12 points, two aces, 37 assists and nine digs, Jackie Kuzniar added nine points, two aces, 17 kills and 11 digs and Amy Ehrichs had seven points, two aces, 15 kills and 13 digs for the Rams.

The Rutherford JV earned its first win of the season defeating Arnold 25-22, 25-14. Ashley Sarnsworth had 12 points for the Rams (1-3).

Arnold faces Godby today at 5:30 p.m. Rutherford hosts Chiles today in a District 2-5A contest.

Wewahitchka 3, Bay 2
WEWAHITCHKA
Bay took the first two set but Wewahitchka rallied for a 17-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-18, 15-10 victory.

The Bay JV team won 25-23, 25-13. Taylor Hall had four assists and four aces.

Boys golf
Rutherford won a four team golf match at Bay Dunes with a 171 total. Bay was second at 187, Port St. Joe was third with a 207 and Wewahitchka had a 226.

Rutherford's Blake May was the medalist shooting a 39.

Olivia Dew scored twice and Parker Sheffield had a goal and an assist in a soccer match stopped in the second half due to lightning. Goalkeeper Grant Sparks had five saves for Covenant (2-1-3), which plays Victory Christian on Thursday at the Lynn Haven Sports Complex.
