Mosley lifters place in Top 10 at state
KISSIMMEE — Mosley’s Tyler Williams and Eddie San Juan finished in respective Top 10s and narrowly missed out on placing in Friday’s Class 2A state boys weightlifting meet at the Kissimmee Civic Center.
Williams had a 315-pound bench press and 220-pound clean and jerk for a 535 total in the 154-pound weight class. He finished seventh by five pounds, as his best clean and jerk was 10 pounds lower than anyone in the top six, which earn a spot on the podium and team points.
San Juan posted marks of 265 in the bench and 235 in the clean and jerk for a 500 total and an eighth-place finish at 139. He was 20 pounds away from sixth place.
Seminole Ridge won the 2A title with 28 points. Bartow was runner-up with 17 points and Fort Walton Beach finished fifth with 11.
Lifters from Arnold, Altha, Bay, Blountstown, Chipley, Port St. Joe, Rutherford and Wewahitchka will compete in the Class 1A meet on Saturday also in Kissimmee.
