Arnold, Rutherford advance out of cross country district

PACE — Arnold and Rutherford advanced their boys teams to the regional and Arnold’s Mikayla Hodges and Christina Gaillard finished second and third as the Marlins’ girls team qualified in the District 1-2A cross country meet held Saturday at Simms Middle School.

The top four teams and 13 individuals advanced in districts with at least seven schools competing. The Region 1-2A meet is in Lake City next Saturday.

Arnold’s boys placed third behind champion Pensacola Catholic and West Florida, edging fourth-place Rutherford. Bay was sixth.

Arnold, Rutherford and Bay placed fourth through sixth in the girls meet. The Marlins’ girls will be joined in Lake City by Rutherford’s Melissa Garred, who was 12th.

PACE — Mosley boys and girls runners were eliminated in their district meet, also held at Simms Middle School.

Best efforts for the Dolphins were supplied by Ashtin Noyes in the girls race with a 24th-place finish, and Aaron Janes, who was 28th in the boys 5,000-meter run.
