PANAMA CITY — Bozeman scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to deny Bay a comeback victory with a 5-3 county win in high school baseball on Tuesday.
The Bucks, 3-1, loaded the bases in the eighth on a hit batsman and two walks. Brian Mayo’s one-out infield single scored A.J. Vanslyke and Christian Dillahey also came around when the throw home bounced away from the plate.
Garrett Hall was the winning pitcher in relief of Ryan Hardy. Bay, 1-1, rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Alex Gordon’s two-run single was the key hit in the inning and Preston Brown scored the tying run on a wild pitch.
Bozeman will hosts Liberty County on Tuesday. Bay entertains Marianna 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Mosley 5, Crestview 3
CRESTVIEW — Aaron Thompson was the winning pitcher in relief on Andrew Deramo as the Dolphins improved to 4-0 overall, 2-0 in District 2-6A.
Taylor McGuffin was 2 for 3 for Mosley, Joey Hair 2 for 3 with an RBI and Logan Quimyog had a key run-scoring single.
Mosley is at Niceville on Thursday.
Aucilla Christian 9, Wewa 7
MONTICELLO — Corey Walding went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Justin Flowers went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI but Wewa (1-2) fell short against Aucilla Christian.
Heath Bailey went 2 for 3 with two doubles and three runs scored.
Bailey pitched 1 1/3 innings and took the loss. Walding started the game and pitched five innings.
Wewa hosts Port St. Joe on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Blountstown 8, Franklin County 3
APALACHICOLA — Taylor Wood’s two-run homer help lead Blountstown (2-1) to a win over Franklin County.
Colby Mullins went 2 for 2 while, Wood, Jessie Hall and Brandon Purgis each had had a hit for Blountstown.
Taylor Moss picked up the win in 2 2/3 innings of work while giving up one earned run.
Blountstown heads to South Walton on Friday at 6 p.m.
Softball
Mosley 6, Crestview 0
CRESTVIEW — Jill Johnson tossed a three-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts as Mosley remained unbeaten with its first District 2-6A triumph of the season.
Freshman Grace Gladden had three hits for the Dolphins, 4-0, 1-0, and Katie Lopes and Selena Estrada added runs batted in.
Mosley plays in Arnold’s tournament 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rutherford 5, Bay 0
PANAMA CITY — Freshman Curstin Taylor tossed a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts as Rutherford evened its record 3-3. Taylor also had a single and double at the plate and Becca Taylor slammed a two-run home run for the Rams. Chelsea Childers and Jesse Powell each added two hits.
Rutherford hosts West Florida Tech on Saturday.
Port St. Joe 2, Bozeman 1
SAND HILLS — The Bucks fell in eight innings despite a complete-game performance by Ashley Davis. Makayla Ramsey was the winning pitcher yielding just two hits for Port St. Joe. Alex Hodge had an RBI single for the Tiger Sharks in the fourth. Bozeman tied it in the bottom of the seventh as Becca Hall bunted and Nicole Migliori scored from third. Ramsey’s two-out single scored Katie Gardner for the winning run in the eighth as Port St. Joe won its opener.
Bozeman plays at Blountstown 6 p.m. Friday.
