Prep roundup (March 15): Records fall at Ram Relays
Comments 0 | Recommend 0PANAMA CITY - Twelve records fell in the eighth running of the Ram Relays Saturday at Tommy Oliver Stadium, led by team champions Port St. Joe in the girls and Niceville in the boys.
Port St. Joe established all five new girls records while posting 109 points. Niceville was second with 81 and Rutherford third. The records were Kayla Parker in the long jump (18 feet, 4½ inches) and 100-meter hurdles (15.03 seconds), Samone Smiley in the shot put (39-4) and the Tigers Sharks' 4x200 (1:45.06) and 4x400 (4:10.32) quartets.
Seven records were set in the boys meet with champion Niceville having Loring Ross in the 3200 meters (10:11.84) and the 4x800 (8:21.51) and distance medley (11:03.99). The Eagles posted 86 points to edge Bay (83) and Rutherford (81.3).
Bay set records with Jordon Byas, Justin Manchester, Gabriel Hoguin and DeAndre Richardson in the sprint medley relay (3:40.68) and 4x400 with Byas, Manchester, Terrance Lowder and Jordan Gibson (3:23.16).
Other marks were Mosley's Justin Broxton in the long jump at 22-3½ and Carroll's Lewis Graham with 50-1½ in the shot put.

TALLAHASSEE
Wewahitchka scored five runs in the seventh inning against West Nassau to win the Lincoln Invitational - giving the Lady Gators a pair of seventh-inning victories in their final two games of the two-day tournament.
Wewa trailed 4-0 going into the top of seventh inning of the championship game. After Samantha Wade and Mandy Robbins reached base, Chelsey Pettis hit a three-run home run to narrow the lead. Rebecca Barnes then singled and Hilary Chapman walked. They advanced on a wild pitch, and both scored after a grounder by Samantha Rich to shortstop; Barnes scored on the ground ball, and Chapman came home on a throwing error on the play.
Rich (7-1) was the winning pitcher, striking out four in two innings of relief. Starter Summer Grice pitched four innings, allowing no earned runs. West Nassau scored all four of its runs after a two-out error in the third inning.
Pettis, who was named the tournament's offensive MVP, had two hits, as did Barnes.
In the semifinals against Jacksonville Trinity Christian, Rich pitched a complete game and struck out 17. She was named the tournament's defensive MVP.
Chapman had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in one run. Pettis had two hits, including a two-run home run in the top of the second inning. Samantha Wade had a single and double.
Pettis singled to start the top of the seventh, with the game tied at 3. She moved to second on Barnes' sacrifice bunt and scored on a Chapman double.
Wewa (10-1) plays at Blountstown on Tuesday.

Zach Jadofsky took the loss, giving up five runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Jesse Carter was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI and Carsten Whitson scored twice for the Tigers (5-4), who are at Sneads on Monday.
Altha 12, Blountstown 0
BLOUNTSTOWN
Tad Scott (6-0) had 10 strikeouts and gave up only two hits in the run-rule win. Scott was 2 for 4 with a run scored, stolen base and an RBI, Keith Kirkpatrick was 2 for 2 with a double, RBI and a stolen base, Josh McIntosh 2 for 3 with two runs, two steals and three RBIs and Jake Eddenfield 2 for 4 with a triple, run and three RBIs for Altha (11-2, 2-0 District 2-2A).
Ricky Mercer and Matt Vincent had Blountstown's hits.
Altha is at Munroe on Tuesday.

PDL 13, Bozeman 3
SAND HILLS
Ashleigh Benefield took the loss for the Bucks. Rebecca Skipper had two hits and Jessica McAdams and Lawokxsona Smith one each for Bozeman.
In the Lady Bucks' loss to Bay on Thursday, Skipper had a single, double, triple and four RBIs and Benefield slugged two doubles. Skipper, Smith and Kalynn Dillard each scored two runs.
Bozeman plays a district game next Friday at Altha.
