BONIFAY — Garrett Hall scored on a passed ball in the second inning for Bozeman and it was the only run the Bucks would need in a 1-0 high school baseball victory over Holmes County on Tuesday.
Hall then struck out Will Thompson with the bases loaded in the seventh inning for the save. It was Bozeman’s 100th win in school history and came a season after Holmes County won the three meetings between the teams.
Matt Hall was the winning pitcher, giving up six hits with five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. Joey Brannen had two of Bozeman’s five hits against Thompson, who struck out 14.
Bozeman (6-3, 5-0 District 2-2A) hosts Sneads on Friday.
Rutherford 6, Wakulla 0
CRAWFORDVILLE — Dakota Spikes pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk to lead Rutherford to a 3-0 start in District 2-4A. The Rams can clinch the district’s top seed and a regional berth with another win over Wakulla or one more loss by the War Eagles.
Tyler Bailey’s two-run home run in the fifth inning gave Rutherford a 4-0 lead. It added single runs in the sixth and seventh to seal the win for Spikes, who also was 2 for 4 with a double. Brady Colburn was 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the Rams (5-1 overall), who host Holmes County on Thursday.
Bay 2, Marianna 0
PANAMA CITY — Austin Hancock scored on Spencer Cowan’s squeeze bunt and Mikey Luing was plated on Dustin Gibson’s single in the second inning to propel Bay to the District 1-3A win. Luing and Matt Koyn had hits for Bay and starting pitcher Kevin Husim threw a one-hitter with nine strikeouts.
Bay (5-1, 3-0) hosts Liberty County on Thursday.
Mosley 4, Fort Walton Beach 1
FORT WALTON BEACH — Joey Hair gave up his only hit in the first inning and cruised with 62 pitches to pace Mosley to a District 2-5A victory. Fort Walton Beach went ahead 1-0 in the first, but Mosley took the lead with two runs in the third inning. Hair struck out six and had three four-pitch innings for an easy night’s work.
Jordan Larry had two hits and an RBI and Dale Irving and Alex Simoneaux each had RBI singles for the Dolphins (8-1, 2-1 District 2-5A), who are at Crestview on Friday.
Blountstown 6, Vernon 5
BLOUNTSTOWN — The Tigers went ahead in the bottom of the sixth inning as Anthony Curry’s double tied the game and Brandon Purvis had the game-winning hit. Harrison Coley was the winning pitcher for Blountstown, 5-4, and Hunter Jordan had a save. Curry was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Blountstown hosts Holmes County 6 p.m. Friday.
Softball
Arnold 13, Walton 1
DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — Maryann Kline was 3 for 3 with three home runs and six RBIs as Arnold won in five innings. Michelle Ostrovsky was 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Katie Godrey had a single and double and two RBIs, Torrey Tomashot was 2 for 2, JoJo Booker 3 for 4 and Delaney Dempsey struck out six while allowing four hits.
Arnold, 7-2, 4-1 in District 1-3A, plays March 18 at 6 p.m. in Blountstown.
Bay 2, Chipley 1
PANAMA CITY — Bay scored twice in the fifth inning to overcome a one-run deficit. The Tornadoes had only three hits, with McKenzie Wolffer, Sarah Harris and Jayden Stansbury all coming through in the two-run uprising. Abi Burnett pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Bozeman 16, Cottondale 3
COTTONDALE — Bozeman moved to 7-1 in District 2-2A, 8-3 overall as Kinsley Faulkenberry had a single, double and triple, scored four runs and had an RBI. Ashley Davis was 4 for 4 with four runs and two RBIs, Nicole Migliori 3 for 4 with three runs and four RBIs and Chelsea Sizemore 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Winning pitcher Brittany Benefield went the distance allowing two earned runs and struck out two.
Bozeman won the JV game. The Bucks host Sneads on Thursday.
South Walton 1, Holmes County 0
SANTA ROSA BEACH — Losing pitcher Sarah Pippin allowed three hits and didn’t walk a batter, but South Walton pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Shelby Clark had two of Holmes County’s five hits. The Blue Devils, 10-3, hosts Cottondale on Thursday.

PENSACOLA — Bay girls captured their first team victory of the season with a win over West Florida in a District 1-2A matchup. The Tornado boys won five of six singles matches to boost their record to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the district. Bay’s girls now are 1-5 overall and 1-4 in district play.
