Prep roundup (2/22)

SAND HILLS — Nicole Migliori had two doubles and five RBIs to lead Bozeman to a 13-3 run-rule win over Graceville in a high school softball game on Tuesday.

Kinsley Faulkenberry was 2 for 2 with two runs scored and Brittany Benefield had four strikeouts for the win. The Bucks (3-2, 2-0 District 2-2A) are at Holmes County on Thursday. Graceville won the JV game 12-10.

Niceville 9, Mosley 0

NICEVILLE — Emily Grammer and Morgan Walters had Mosley’s two hits and Jill Johnson was the losing pitcher for the Dolphins (4-3). Niceville won the JV game 4-0. Katie Lopes had eight strikeouts in relief of starter and losing pitcher Kayla Whitaker.

Mosley hosts Crestview on Thursday.

Holmes County 11, Cottondale 0

BONIFAY — Holmes County’s Sarah Pippin pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts one walk as the Blue Devils blanked Cottondale in a District 2-2A game.

Blue Devils’ Siara Jones and Selina Long each batted 2 for 2 with an RBI. Jones scored two runs.

Holmes County (5-1) hosts Bozeman on Thursday.

Vernon 9, Blountstown 3

VERNON — Lauren Register struck out 15 batters to lead Vernon (2-1) past Blountstown.

Brittany Drummond went 4 for 4 and Kathy Marshall went 2 for 2 with a double for the Yellow Jackets.

Vernon faces Geneva, Ala., on Monday with JV at 4 p.m. and varsity at 6 p.m.

Bay 6, Walton 2

PANAMA CITY — Mikey Luing struck out six and held Walton to one run on five hits in the winning effort for Bay in a District 1-3A game. Dylan Barker had two RBIs and Matt Koyn, Alex Hayes and Mike Simmons had a hit apiece for the Tornadoes (2-0, 1-0), who are at Rutherford on Friday.

Marianna 10, Bozeman 8

MARIANNA — Nick Gutierrez, Garrett Hall, Keegan Lewis and A.J. Van Slyke each had two hits and Christian Dillahay had a pinch-hit double with two RBIs for Bozeman. Matt Hall was the losing pitcher, falling to 0-2. Bozeman (1-2) is at Mosley on Wednesday.

PANAMA CITY — A.J. Certlich had seven strikeouts in a no-decision, as the teams played to a tie due to a two-hour time limit enforced prior to the varsity game. Andrew Deramo was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Cannan May 2 for 4 with an RBI and Chris Rotton had an RBI for Bay.

WEWAHITCHKA — Cole Harper and Corey Walding each had doubles while Brandon Mayhann added two RBIs as Wewahitchka (4-0) remained undefeated with a win over Graceville.

Beau McCorvey earned the win with eight strikeouts in four innings of work.

Wewa is at Liberty County in a district battle tonight at 6 p.m.

Softball

Dothan (Ala.) 8, Mosley 4

LYNN HAVEN — Four Mosley pitchers walked eight and the Dolphins’ offense couldn’t overcome their generosity. Selena Estrada, Emily Locher, Meagan Creel and Jill Johnson were in the circle for Mosley, 4-2. Andrea McKenzie had three hits and Jill Johnson two for Mosley. The Dolphins entertain Crestview at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Mosley’s JV defeated Dothan 2-0 with Katie Lopes pitching a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts. The Dolphins are 3-1.
