Prep roundup (Dec. 2): Bozeman boys beat Altha

SAND HILLS - Three Bozeman players scored in double figures as the Bucks improved to 3-1 with a 56-38 win over Altha in a boys basketball game on Tuesday.

Chase Walker led the Bucks with 12 points while Vince Venture and Michael Hentschel each scored 10.

Ethan Byler led Altha with 14 points.

The Altha JV team defeated Bozeman 21-19. Nick Gutierrez scored 10 points and Jacob Thele had nine for Bozeman (1-3).

Bozeman hosts Freeport on Thursday with the JV at 6 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m.

Franklin County 57, Arnold 43
EASTPOINT
Franklin County led by only five at halftime but pulled away thereafter from the young Marlins, who were playing their opener. Mark Troncale had 20 points and Nate Hicks 12 for the Marlins, 0-1. Deshaun Winfield had 23 for the Sharks, 2-0.

Arnold won the JV game 50-24 as Terrance Day and Calvin Cox each had nine points.

The Marlins play at Godby Friday night in their District 2-4A opener.

Girls basketball
Bozeman 58, Altha 8

SAND HILLS
DeeDee Kenney and Morgan Gilbert combined for 43 points as Bozeman evened its District 2-2A mark at 1-1.
Kenney had 21 points, six assists and eight steals, and Gilbert 22 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals. Melody Krans added eight points and four assists.

The Bucks, 3-1 overall, play at Arnold 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

Mosley 50, Rutherford 39
LYNN HAVEN
Deanna Canfield had a double-double and Octavia Langston scored in double figures as Mosley (4-1) earned its first District 2-5A win over county foe Rutherford.

Canfield had 18 points and 15 rebounds while Langston netted 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds with seven steals for the Dolphins.

Mia Martello added six rebounds for Mosley.

The Mosley JV (1-1) team defeated Rutherford 25-20. Mosley outscored Rutherford 24-9 in the second half to earn the win. Rachel Worsnup led Mosley with 10 rebounds and eight points while Rachel Faucheax had seven points for the Dolphins.

Mosley is at Lincoln on Friday with the JV at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity at 6 p.m.

Girls soccer
Bozeman 5, Walton 0

SAND HILLS
Amber Johnson had three goals, Kirstie Cannon had two goals and one assist and Sarah Brannen and Ashley Stanley each had assists in the shutout. Jessica McAdams had six saves in net.

Bozeman is 3-1. The Bucks host Rocky Bayou on Thursday.

Mosley 1, Chiles 1
BAYOU GEORGE
Rebecca Mellerski scored for Mosley 7½ minutes into the game, but Chiles got the equalizer less than 100 seconds from the finish in a District 2-5A match at Harders Park.

Dani Nagler had five saves for the Dolphins, 6-0-1, and a leading 3-0-1 in the district. Mosley plays in the Chiles tournament this weekend.

Mosley won the JV game 5-0. Alyssa Holmes and Haley Moore each had two goals and Amber Gray got one. The JV is 8-0-1.
