Prep roundup (Nov. 25): Host Mosley advances to b-ball final

LYNN HAVEN - Host Mosley and Baylor High School of Chattanooga, Tenn., advanced to the finals of the Mosley Thanksgiving girls basketball tournament Tuesday.

Mosley (3-0) defeated Wewahitchka 77-14, while Baylor bounced Gulf Breeze 46-22.

Baylor's Kiera Payne scored nine points and Amber Howard had seven.

Dennette Zuniga led Gulf Breeze with nine points.

Mia Martello led Mosley with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Tasha Trzska had 11 points and seven rebounds, Deanna Canfield nine points, Rachel Simmons eight steals and five points and Octavia Langston 13 points.

Wewahitchka plays Gulf Breeze today at 2 p.m. while Mosley battles Baylor at 4 p.m. A 3-point shooting contest will be held between games with two players from each team participating.

Rutherford 43, Arnold 26
SPRINGFIELD

Meagan Thorpe scored a game-high 15 points for Rutherford in a win over county rival Arnold. Nicole Daniels added 11 points for the Rams.

Jessica Coupe paced Arnold with 13 points.

Rutherford won the junior varsity game 27-16 behind 10 points from Aerial McCray.

The Rams (1-2) are at Mosley on Tuesday.

Covenant 56, R.F. Munroe 47
PANAMA CITY
Covenant held off a late charge to claim a victory over R.F. Munroe.

Freshman Rachel Phelps led the Lions (6-0, 2-0) with 13 points. Haley Sheffield also was in double figures with 12 points, eight rebounds and six steals.

Chelsea McDill added eight points, eight rebounds and six steals, Rebecca Farris nine points, Hannah Dobernig nine points and Heather Smith pulled down nine rebounds

Covenant plays at Maranatha at 5 p.m. EST Dec. 4 in a conference game.

Sneads 43, Bozeman 40
SNEADS
Bozeman's DeeDee Kenney scored 15 points and Morgan Gilbert had 14 in the Bucks' (2-1) loss to Sneads.

Boys basketball
Bay 64, Northside 24
DEFUNIAK SPRINGS
Kenny Jones had 23 points and Ethan Roulhac added 12 points as Bay (1-1) cruised past Northside in the Walton Thanksgiving Tournament.

The Tornadoes continue in the tournament at 1:30 p.m. today

Covenant 63, R.F. Munroe 47
PANAMA CITY
Covenant's Kristo Kleimeyer scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Lions' win over R.F. Munroe of Quincy.

Covenant's Brett Houbler scored 13 points, Ben Dobernig had 10 points and 11 rebounds while Ryan Pons scored nine points with 12 blocks and 10 rebounds.

The Lions (5-1) play at Tallahassee Maranatha on Dec. 4.

Covenant won the junior varsity match 42-22. Gray Whiting had 11 points and eight steals, Parker Sheffield 10 points and six steals and Brandon Schrier added eight points and 11 rebounds.

Franklin County 78, Mosley 43
EASTPOINT
Franklin County's Jeremy James scored 24 points and DeShaun Winfield had 21 in a win over Mosley in the opener for both teams.

Mosley's Fred Brown scored 13 points, Darryus Stewart had 11 and Ryan Seiler added nine.

Mosley plays at Bay on Tuesday.

Marianna 72, Rutherford 67
MARIANNA
Marianna rallied past Rutherford to hand the Rams their first loss.

Rutherford (2-1) led by seven points with five minutes remaining.

Malcolm Owens led the Rams with 21 points and Darrien Mack had 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Rutherford plays at Port St. Joe on Tuesday.

Cottondale 81, Wewahitchka 41
COTTONDALE
Marcus Humose scored a team-high 15 points to lead Cottondale (1-0) past Wewahitchka.

Tristin White and Nick Jackson each had 11 points, Dominique Webb scored 10 and Jacob Herring and Darien Pollack added eight points apiece for the Hornets, who play at Marianna on Friday.

Sneads 58, Bozeman 41
SNEADS
Vince Ventura scored 14 points and T.J. Schrier had 10 in Bozeman's (1-1) loss to Sneads.

The Bozeman junior varsity fell 44-21. Nick Gutierruz had 14 points and John Whittingham had nine for the Bucks.

Wakulla 2, PSJ 1

CRAWFORDVILLE
Rachel Jones scored Port St. Joe's lone goal on a Stefani Furstenburg assist. PSJ goalkeeper Angela Cannington had 18 saves.

The Tigers Sharks (4-5) are at Marianna on Tuesday.

Boys soccer
Mosley 8, Walton 0
DEFUNIAK SPRINGS
Austin Rogers scored three goals and added three assists in Mosley's mercyrule win over Walton. Stuart Branstetter, Sam Coffman, Andrew Beasley, Kyle Adams and Brad Gatta each scored a goal, while Graham Ball had an assist.

Blake Nobles stopped three shots for the shutout.

Mosley (3-2-1) is at Rutherford on Tuesday.

Wakulla 8,PSJ 2
CRAWFORDVILLE
Parker Harris scored both of the Tigers Sharks' goals, one on an assist by Jared Arnold. Hunter Walls stopped 18 shots for PSJ (3-2-2).

Port St. Joe plays at Marianna on Tuesday.
