Prep roundup (Sept. 25): Arnold wins doubleheader volleyball match

Haley Lanier had four kills and two aces in the first match, and four kills, five digs and nine aces in the second, as Arnold won a District 4-2A doubleheader voleyball match from Rickards on Thursday.

Arnold won the first match 25-3, 25-3, 25-11, and the second match 25-3, 25-12, 25-8.

Kristen Miller added one kill, 12 assists and three service aces in the first match. Lauren Miller had seven service aces.

In the second match, Katie Steelman had seven kills and six service aces.

Arnold (11-3 overall, 6-1 district) hosts Mosley on Tuesday.

Mosley 3, Bay 0
LYNN HAVEN
Junior Ann Delaney handed out 15 assists as Mosley remained undefeated in county play with a 25-9, 25-5, 25-8 victory over Bay on Thursday.

Three Dolphins had 17 service points, including Delaney who also had nine digs, six assists and six kills.
Megan Williams had nine kills and four assists. Deanna Canfield had 10 aces, 10 assists, eight digs and five kills.

Mosley had 23 aces as a team. The Lady Dolphins (14-2) play at Arnold on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

The Mosley JV won 25-14, 25-20 behind 17 assists by Tasha Trzaska.

Rutherford 3, Port St. Joe 0
PORT ST. JOE
Christin Beck had 26 assists, 14 service points and one ace as Rutherford beat Port St. Joe 25-10, 25-15, 25-17.

Jennifer Baumgartner also had 14 service points, along with eight digs, four kills and two assists.

Vicki Danley was the other Ram leader with 10 kills, five service points, three digs and one assist.

The Rams (9-8) host Chipley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Arnold prevails

PANAMA CITY BEACH
The Arnold A team won a match against its B team and Rutherofrd on the par-3 course at Holiday Golf Course. Samantha Bates was medalist with a 32 as Arnold had 147 strokes. The Marlins B team was second with 173 and Rutherford had a score of 175.

Arnold plays Tuesday at Holiday with Mosley and Rutherford.

Boys soccer
Gateway Academy 4, Covenant 0
LYNN HAVEN
Covenant managed just three shots on goal after coming out flat, but never recovered to lose its third game of the season.

Lions keeper Grant Sparks had four saves, stopping half of Gateway Academy's attempts.

Covenant is 4-3-4 and will host Malone on Tuesday at the Lynn Haven Sports Complex.

PORT ST. JOE
Roman Quinn scored two touchdowns and Enoch Mathis added another and a two-point converstion in Port St. Joe's second win of the season.

The Tiger Sharks are 2-1 and play Oct. 9 against North Florida Christian.

Chipley 16, Bozeman 12
SAND HILLS
Zach Martinez had a 2-yard touchdown run and Joey Brannen scored on a 20-yard run to even Bozeman's record at 2-2.

The Bucks play at Blountstown on Thursdsay.

PANAMA CITY
Matt Sistrunk caught a 12-yard scoring pass from Colton Kane as Arnold improved to 3-1 with a victory at Tommy Oliver Stadium.

Kevin McCray added a 17-yard scoring run, Anthony Davis kicked a 35-yard field goal and also added an extra point.
Arnold's next outing is hosting Rutherford.

Middle schools
Volleyball - Everitt defeated Merritt Brown 17-25, 25-20, 25-20, 12-25 and 15-13. Everitt is 2-1. Leadres: Becca Taylor 17 service points and six digs, Kaylyn Julian nine service points, Anissa Martin four points and one kill, Ny'Kiya Russell seven points, one ace, one kill and four digs; Cynekia Bostwick four points and two digs, Kelsey Quinn six points, Curstin Taylor two points. PANAMA CITY
Tallhassee Godby defeated Bay 25-20, 26-24, 25-23 to drop the Tornadoes to 4-6.

Anna Smith had six kills and two blocks and Sommer Armstrong had 10 digs and three aces for Bay.

The Bay JV team defeated Godby 25-15, 25-13 to improve to 7-0. Brittany Dilley had seven kills and four digs.
