Thorpe breaks hurdle record; Williams wins four events

PANAMA CITY — Rutherford’s Meagan Thorpe broke a county meet record in the 100-yard hurdles with a time of 16.60 seconds during the track and field meet Monday.

Thorpe’s time was four-hundredths of a second faster than the previous record set by Allycia Thornton of Rutherford in 2003.

Eddie Williams of Arnold was part of four victories for the Marlins. He posted wins in the 400 and the long jump, and he also competed in Arnold’s victorious 400 relay and 1,600 relay. Bay’s Emery Coleman won both hurdle events, and Arnold’s Chancellor Mason won the 1,600 and 3,200 and also was a member of the 1600 relay.

Mykeese Edwards of Bay won the 100 and 200 in the girls meet and along with teammate Sarah Barwick who won the 800 and 1,600 was a contributor as Bay won all three relays.
