Ashley paces PCST with nine wins
DOTHAN, Ala. — Marisa Ashley won nine individual events and competed on two winning relay teams in the 8-under girls division to pace the Panama City Swim Team during a fourth-place team finish at the Wiregrass Peanut Invitational last weekend.
The host Dothan Dolphins won the team title with 1,184 points, followed by Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club (848.5), Emerald Coast Swimming (646) and the Panama City Swim Team (620).
Ashley cruised to high-point honors in her division, winning the 25-yard freestyle, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 25 backstroke, 50 backstroke, 25 breaststroke, 50 breaststroke, 25 butterfly and 50 butterfly. She also swam the final leg of the 100 freestyle relay, joining Isa Gobel, Kalani Dempsey and Kathryn-Annette McKinney to set a meet record with a time of 1 minutes, 13.25 seconds. Ashley swam the second leg in the 100 medley relay, joining Gobel, McKinney and Ella Hicks in another record-setting performance of 1:24.93.
Fallon Gelsleichter was the high-point winner in the 13-14 girls division. She won the 500 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 200 individual medley. She teamed with Sophia Dorr, Hannah Retherford and Tyler Miles to win the 200 medley relay with a meet record of 2:11.31.
Kari Troia (11-12 girls) won the 100 breaststroke and teamed with Theryn Compoc, Kyla Hallam and Olivia Taylor to win the 200 medley relay in a meet record 2:16.44.
Retherford won the 100 backstroke, and Gobel won the 100 individual medley to wrap up the Tsunamis’ event winners.
