Prep roundup (Nov. 5): Mosley girls soccer opens with win

Also, Liberty County moves on in regional volleyball

Kat Vogler scored three goals and Emily Grammer recorded a shutout for Mosley in the Dolphins' 8-0 girls soccer victory over Port St. Joe at Harders Park on Tuesday.

Hannah Nix, Mallory Bond, Chelsey Williams, Jenna Jackson and Sam Newsome each had a goal, while Rebecca Malerski (two) and Sidney Perles had assists for Mosley (1-0).

Mosley's junior varsity defeated Chipley 8-0 behind two goals each by Amanda Singletary and Ellie Buttram. Mary Ellen Garner, Mary Beth Bennett, Morgan Morrow and Kristen Allen each scored for the Mosley JV (1-0).

Mosley plays Rutherford at the Vera Shamplain Sports Complex on Friday, with a JV start of 3:30 p.m. and the varsity to follow at 5:30.

Volleyball

Liberty County was the only one of four area teams to win regional openers on Tuesday. The Bulldogs (17-6) edged Tallahassee North Florida Christian 25-15, 25-23, 20-25, 22-25, 15-11 in the Region 1-2A quarterfinal.

Liberty County is at Tallahassee Maclay, which defeated Port St. Joe 25-12, 25-10, 25-14, in the semifinal on Tuesday. The Tiger Sharks finished the season 11-13. Also in 1-2A, Baker defeated Blountstown 25-15, 25-21, 25-12.

In 1-4A, Arnold lost to Pensacola Washington and finished its season 20-8.
