Mosley's Nguyen loses out on tiebreaker, finishes third at state

LYNN HAVEN - Mosley weightlifter Phuocan Nguyen settled for third place at 119 pounds in Saturday’s FHSAA Class 2A Boys Weightlifting State Championships, not a tie for second as was reported in Sunday’s News Herald.
Nguyen posted identical lifts as eventual runner-up Jesse Brooks of Fleming Island, 215 bench press and 190 clean and jerk for matching totals of 405 pounds. Their body weights also were identical at 117.7 pounds.
Mosley coach Bill Graff said that the tie was broken when both lifters were weighed after competing, and Nguyen weighed slightly more than Brooks.
