Arnold wins first-ever regional volleyball match
CRAWFORDVILLE — Sarah Robertson had five service points, four digs, three blocks and 12 kills to lead Arnold to a 25-9, 25-14, 20-25, 25-19 victory over Wakulla in the Region 1-5A high school volleyball quarterfinals on Tuesday. It was the Marlins’ first victory in five regional trips.
“This is a big win and a huge step for our program,” Arnold coach Karisa Wesley said. “A lot of this can be attributed to the kids playing volleyball year-round.”
Madi Wichterman had 14 points and three aces, Sam Brooks seven points, five blocks, five digs and two kills, JoJo Booker nine points, five kills, four digs and three blocks, Emma Moskowitz 10 kills, eight points, three aces and two digs, Alex Dyer 27 assists, 12 points and five digs and Kailyn Helms 12 digs for the Marlins (18-9).
Arnold plays Gulf Breeze, which beat Live Oak Suwannee in straight sets, in the regional semifinal on Tuesday. It’s the fifth matchup this season between Arnold and Gulf Breeze, which beat the Marlins in each of the previous meetings.
“I think some of the high points are that we’ve definitely played better against them lately,” Wesley said. “We have to play them the entire match and not just half the match.”
