Arnold leads local XC runners at Panhandle Championships
MARIANNA — Arnold was the top cross country finisher from Bay County in the Marianna Panhandle Championships held here Saturday.
The Arnold girls finished eighth and the boys were ninth.
Challen Hyman led the Arnold boys, placing 25th with a time of 17 minutes, 6.91 seconds.
Arnold’s Mikayla Hodges was 11th overall at 19:42.81 and Christina Gaillard was 19th at 20:20.77 to pace the Marlins’ girls team.
All Mosley runners got personal best times led by Aaron Jane who shaved an entire minute off his PR with a time of 17:10 and placed 27th out of 144 runners. Leading the Mosley girls, Ashtin Noyes also had a PR of 21:15 and placed 28th out of 112 runners.
Top runners for Rutherford were Andrew Wyllie (30th 17:14.20) and Melissa Garred (48th 22:04.34). Spence Farner (69th 18:49.15) and Katie Carroll (63rd 23:05.19) led Bay’s teams.
In the boys race, Fort Walton Beach placed five runners in the top 14 to claim first place. Niceville’s Nicholas Morken was the overall winner at 15:53.89.
In the girls race, Chiles swept the top three places and five of the top nine to finish first. Lily Williams led the way with a time of 17:50.26.
Bay County teams will compete for the county championship in the final regular season meet on Friday at 4 p.m. at Frank Brown Park. The boys meet starts at 4 p.m., girls at 4:30 and open junior varsity match at 5 p.m. The meet was originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29.
