Track and field: Bay sends 10 to state, Arnold four

JACKSONVILLE — Bay qualified 10 athletes for the Class 2A state meet and Arnold four in the Region 1-2A meet held Thursday at Jacksonville Bolles High School.

The Tornadoes will be represented by Thomas Williams, third in the discus, and Demetrius Barnes, fourth in the 200 in the boys meet. Girls who qualified included Anissa Martin, who was fourth in the discus, and the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. The top four individual and relays in each event qualified for the state meet.

Bay’s 4x100 quartet that placed third includes Mykeese Edwards, Kayla Cramer, Kianna Patton and Na’Kiya Russell. The 4x400 placed fourth and includes Alexis Goodine, Cramer, Diamond Oliver and Edwards.

Arnold’s boys 4x400 of Andre Allen, Eddie Williams, Stacey Otias and Chancellor Mason placed third. The only other qualifier from an area school was Tia Bass of Marianna who finished second in the shot put.

The state meet is next weekend in Winter Park.
