The 2009 football preview capsule for Cottondale:

  • Head coach: Mike Melvin, 15th year
  • Offensive coordinator: Chris Obert
  • Defensive coordinator: Don Holland
  • 2008 record: 3-5 (2-2 District 1-1B)
  • 2009 District: 1-1B
  • Playoffs: None
  • Offense: Multiple
  • Defense: 50
  • Leading returners:, Dominique Webb (jr., RB), Nick Jackson (sr., QB), Drew Bellamy (sr., TE/DE), Ronnie Dixon (jr., LB), Cody Saye (jr., LB)
  • Others to watch:  James Johns (sr., WR/DB), Evan Davis (jr., RB/LB), C.J. Smith (fr., QB), Cameron Harmon (sr., DL)

  • Outlook: Mike Melvin always is cautious with his predictions, but he can rest assured in the knowledge of having a potent running back returning to the team. The offensive line must gel to protect new quarterbacks and open holes for Dominique Webb, and if it can, then the Hornets can compete in the district.
