Area sports announcements (Updated 3/12)

The News Herald will publish announcements of area interest concerning meetings or events. Announcements, which must be dated and contain contact information, can be mailed to the Sports Department, P.O. Box 1940, Panama City, FL, 32402, faxed to the Sports Department at 747-5097 or e-mailed to sports@pcnh.com. Events that require entry fees or registration costs that don’t benefit charities or go toward the operating expenses of youth leagues or school booster clubs, or toward the purchase of trophies and awards are not eligible, and must run as an advertisement.
Men’s adult baseball
The North Florida Men’s Adult Baseball League (18-over) is trying to gauge interest in Bay County players and teams. Those desiring more information can go to www.leaguelineup.com/northfloridamabl or call league president Gregory O. Vickers at 850 253-5107.
Lynn Haven baseball
Lynn Haven is in need of additional players for youth baseball, ages 13 and up. Children can be registered at the Lynn Haven Sports Complex on the end of Hilltop Lane off County 390. Contact: 271-5547.
Bayou George registration
Spring baseball, softball and T-ball registration has started for the Bear Creek Athletic Association (formerly the Youngstown/Fountain and Bay George associations) at the Bayou George ballpark off County 2301. Youth flag football
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County will host a flag football league beginning the second week of April. Registration will end March 10 for age groups 7-8, 9-11 and 12-14, and the lower age groups will be co-ed leagues. It is free to Boys and Girls Club members and cost for outside teams is $250 and individuals $30. Registration forms are available at the C.C. Moore, Chapman Unit and Frank Brown Unit clubs. Springfield Panthers cheerleading
A parent meeting and cheerleader registration for the Springfield Panthers will be held 5:30 p.m. March 11 at the Shaw Adult Center. A cheerleading clinic will be held March 17-19 from 5:30-7 p.m. and Saturday, March 20 at noon. Highland Games
The Panama City Highland Games will take place Saturday, March 13 as part of the 18th annual Scottish Festival on the east lawn of Grace Presbyterian Church (corner of Lisenby Avenue and Airport Road. The games will feature athletes from several states in full competition and will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, although donations will gratefully accepted. Contact: 769-4000.
Happy Hackers golf
The Happy Hackers will play Indian Springs Golf Course in Marianna on Wednesday, March 17, at 9 a.m. Cost is $33 and includes lunch. Checks should be made to Indian Springs G.C. Pilot Club 5K
The Pilot Club 5K and Fun Run benefit for brain-related disorders will be held Saturday, March 20 at Frank Brown Park. Registration is 7 a.m. with the 5K at 8 a.m. and Fun Run at 9 a.m. Early registration is $15 for the 5K and $10 for the Fun Run. Race-day registration is $18 and $12. Bay boys soccer meeting

Bay football golf
The Bay football coaches and quarterback club will host their annual invitational golf tournament fundraiser on Saturday, March 27 at the Holiday Golf Club. 5K Race and ½-mile hop
The Junior Service League of Panama City will host the 5K Rabbit Race and ½-mile Bunny Hop on Saturday, April 3 at the Panama City Marina Civic Center. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K follows at 8:30 a.m. and the hop at 9:30 a.m. Cost for 5K is $15 until March 26 and $18 after. The ½-mile hop is $10 until March 26 and $12 after. Flag football league seeks coaches
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Bay County seeks potential coaches for an NFL flag football league. The season is scheduled to start April 12. Coaches can stop by any of the three Boys and Girls Clubs locations at 3404 West 19th St., 3030 East 3rd St. and 16200 Panama City Beach Parkway to fill out a background check.
Charity golf tourney
The Rock by the Sea charity golf tournament, a modified Florida scramble, will take place April 16 at 10 a.m. at St. James Bay Golf Course in Carrabelle. The entry fee is $125 per player with four-player teams. There will be a $10,000 hole-in-one contest. Race Judicata
The 25th annual Race Judicata is May 1 at the Bay County Courthouse. Registration is 6:30 a.m., the 5K at 8 a.m. and ½-mile Fun Run at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $12 for the 5K, $15 race day and $5 and $10 for the Fun Run. Proceeds benefit Girls Inc.
