The News Herald will publish announcements of area interest concerning meetings or events. Announcements, which must be dated and contain contact information, can be mailed to the Sports Department, P.O. Box 1940, Panama City, FL, 32402, faxed to the Sports Department at 747-5097 or e-mailed to sports@pcnh.com. Events that require entry fees or registration costs that don’t benefit charities or go toward the operating expenses of youth leagues or school booster clubs, or toward the purchase of trophies and awards are not eligible, and must run as an advertisement.
Rutherford Fall Festival
Arts and crafts and yard sale vendors are needed for the Rutherford Baseball Fall Festival on Nov. 20 in the main parking lot at Rutherford High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tables are available for $20. Contact: Dale Jonas 624-2820 as soon as possible.
Softball tryouts
The 10U Team Wewa 2011 summer ball team is having tryouts. Those interested can contact Tony Price 850-227-6471 or Brooke Wooten 850-227-8242 for a time and date.
Southport golf tournament
The second annual Southport Baseball golf tournament fundraiser will be held 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 at Signal Hill Golf Course. Registration is at 7 a.m. and entry fee is $65 per player in a four-man scramble format. All proceeds benefit the youth baseball program in Southport. Scramblers golf
The Scramblers will play Dogwood Lakes Golf Club in Bonifay on Monday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. Cost is $32 which includes cart and lunch. Format is four-person scramble. Contact: Connie 547-4653.
Kids Golf Tour event
The Kids Golf Tour, for boys and girls ages 12 and under, will host a nine-hole tournament Nov. 20 at Holiday Golf Club. Cost is $10 per player and the first tee time is 2 p.m. Contact: Lee Anderson, 769-5956.
Draggin’ Tail runs
The Draggin’ Tail 18-mile challenge and 5K run will be Nov. 20 at the Sunny Hills Catholic Church. Entry for the challenge is $20 early and $25 late with three-person relay $54 early, $66 late. The 5K entry is $15. Contact Joe 774-0018 or Marty 265-8439. Register online at active.com.
