District 1-2A boys: Bay blasts Catholic for crown
DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — Ashton Hicks had three goals as Bay defeated Pensacola Catholic 5-1 in the District 1-2A boys soccer championship game Friday night at Walton High School.
Bay, 17-6-1, beat Catholic for the third time and surpassed 100 goals on the season in the process. Sean Lane had a goal and assist, Connor Healy had a goal, Seth Lippman two assists and Jarod Wilkins and Nick Fasbinder one assist apiece.
Bay led 2-0 at the half and it was 4-0 by the time Catholic scored in the 70th minute. The Crusaders are 12-10-0.
Gunner Thrasher had three saves for the Tornadoes, who meet the loser of Florida High and Wakulla 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Region 1-2A quarterfinals at Tommy Oliver Stadium.
Catholic will travel to face the District 2-2A champion.
