GULF BREEZE — Mosley produced two weight-class champions while placing third and Arnold had one champion and placed fifth on Saturday in the 12-school Andrews Institute high school wrestling tournament hosted by Gulf Breeze.

Leading the Dolphins were Mike Cannizzo and Brock Carlan who claimed titles at 170 and 113 pounds respectively. Forrest Lang was second at 138 pounds as was Cody Sandahl at 285. Dillon Humphrey placed third at 132.

For Arnold, Colby Baker was the 132-pound champion. Dillon LaMont was second at 180 and Reggie Gordon second at 220. Placing third were Doug Miner at 138, Taylor Ryan 145 and Kole Krim at 285.

Wewahitchka was 11th overall, however, Beau Boggess took the 106-pound title and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler. Also for the Gators, Josh Epps was fourth at 126 pounds.

Boys basketball

Terry Parker 77, Rutherford 68

JACKSONVILLE — Highly acclaimed guard Solomon Poole scored 28 points as Terry Parker won a battle of two schools with Final Four aspirations in Class 5A.

Khaliel Spearman had 20 points for Rutherford, 10-3, Kiki Williamson had 14 and Tony Mixon and Keith Arts each had 11. Jon Wade played sparingly for the Rams as he continues to recover from his offseason foot injury.

Despite the defeat, Rutherford coach Rhondie Ross highlighted the positives from the matchup. The Rams trailed by four points at halftime, then fell behind by double digits in the third quarter. They reduced the deficit to five points with five minutes to play, but couldn’t get any closer.

“It was a competitive game,” Ross said. “We got a feel for their personnel, got game film on them and had an opportunity to play in a hostile environment. I was pleased with how the guys fought.”

The Braves, 13-1, won their 13th consecutive game.

“I think there is a good chance they will come out of this side of the region,” Ross said. “It’s always good going up against a kid that’s got a chance to be a high school All-American.”

Rutherford hosts Bay on Tuesday.

Arnold 44, Bozeman 42

SAND HILLS — Arnold led 19-11 at halftime and held on for a county win. Leading the Marlins, 6-9, were Brady Jackson with 14 points, Darius Smedley with 11 and Doug Lott with 10. Bozeman slipped to 7-9,

Arnold is at Graceville on Monday. The Marlins JV lost to North Bay Haven 43-41 as Jacob Usery had 12 for the Bucs and Kyle Funk had 16 for the Marlins, 5-7.

Chipley 59, Baker 48

CHIPLEY — Cam Dozier and Alex Hamilton each had 14 points as Chipley won its eighth consecutive game. Logan Justice had nine points for the Tigers, and Dylan Dunford had 14 for Baker.

Chipley, 10-3, plays at Baker Tuesday night.

Girls basketball

Rutherford 46, Niceville 44

SPRINGFIELD — Tatyana Bell’s putback with one second left culminated a frantic comeback by the Rams. Bell finished with nine points for Rutherford, which trailed by 15 points in the third quarter. Lakia Snowden led the Rams with 12 points and Brea Carroll added 10.

Rutherford (6-8) hosts Bay on Friday

Niceville won the junior varstiy game 31-14. Destiny Leeds led the Rams with six points.

Boys soccer

Bay 7, Walton 0

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — Seven players scored goals for Bay. Jacob Wright and Ashton Hicks each had a goal and two assists, Zach Smith had a goal and assist and Sean Lane, Jarod Wilkins, Zach Bautista and David Bradshaw all scored once. Jacob Morrow and Gunner Thrasher had assists. Thrasher had one save, as did Ethan Brown in goal. Morrow and Viaheslav Gurianov also had assists against Pensacola Catholic in a game played Friday.

The Tornadoes, 10-5-2, 8-0 in District 1-2A, host Marianna 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Lincoln 1, Arnold 1

TALLAHASSEE — Lincoln scored the equalizer in the second half on a breakaway, Luke Mitchell scored late in the first half for the Marlins on a 25-yard volley. Josh Murphy had three saves for Arnold, 3-9-4.

Arnold hosts Mosley 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mike Gavlak.

Chiles 3, Rutherford 2

PANAMA CITY — Rutherford led early, then couldn’t complete a second-half rally in a nondistrict game played at Tommy Oliver Stadium. Gabe Conway scored from Tyler Le for the Rams’ first goal, and Eric Riley scored from Josh Williams in the second half. Will Grund had nine saves in goal for Rutherford.

The Rams, 2-6-3, play at Port St. Joe on Tuesday.

Girls soccer

Arnold 8, Rutherford 0

PANAMA CITY BEACH — Sarah Nohmer and Kirsten Crowley each had hat tricks for Arnold, 10-3-2, 5-1 in the district. Kelli Crowly and Kaitlyn Girard also scored for the Marlins and Alexa Schultz had an assist.

Arnold plays Mosley Tuesday at Tommy Oliver Stadium.
