Prep roundup (Oct. 20): Arnold boys and girls 12th in cross country event

MARIANNA - Arnold’s Lauren Vonderharr and Rutherford’s Ryan Singleton finished 33rd and 35th, respectively, in the 18th annual Panhandle Cross Country Championship on Saturday.
Vonderharr led the Arnold girls with a time of 21 minutes, 9 seconds as the Marlins took 12th place in boys and girls competition.
Singleton was 35th out of 150 runners with a time of 17:29.
Arnold’s girls finishers included 57. Robin Thompson 22:30, 69. Clarissa Wiser 23:17, 98. Kayla Ezell 25:19, 103. Rachel McKenzie 26:09, 106. Ragan Holland 26:57, 109. Morganne McKenzie 27:10. Vaonderharr, Wiser, Holland, and the McKenzies had personal bests.
Jeremy Evans led the Arnold boys with a 56thh place finish at 18:27. Other finishers were: 80. Jacob Slaugher 19:24, 86. Morgan Meadows 19:44, 96. Jordan Masker 20:15, 100. David Rouse 20:26, 102. Keegan McClanahan 20:34, 115. Jordan Carpenter 21:14. Evans, Meadows and Masker had personal bests.
The Rutherford boys finishers were: 124. Cody Jateff 21:59, 127. James Hunt 22:35, 133. Andrew McGabe 23:14, 137. Ben Rutland 24:38, 138. Matt Smith 24:50, 144. Anthony Lopez 25:50. Rutherford’s Caitlin Jateff was 114th in the girls competition at 28:13.
Bay freshman Savanna Nelson finished 87th with a time of 24:26.
Other Bay finishers were: 99. Kelly Harris 25:30, 104. Ginny Hamrick 26:28, 116. Kayla Cox 28:52, 117. Peggy Warner 28:57, 119. Nichole Fenwick 29:46, 122. Ericka Canfijn 36:13.
Bay Tuovila finished 70th for the Bay boys with a time of 18:57. Bay’s Zach Smith was 107th at 20:43.
The Bay County meet will be held Thursday at Callaway Park beginning at 4 p.m.

ROBERTSDALE, Ala.
Covenant Christian’s boys soccer team fell to Central Christian 3-0 and Alethia 4-2 in the Final Four tournament of the Panhandle Christian Athletic Conference.
Covenant finished 5-3-1 in its first season of varsity soccer.
Zach Bingham made seven saves in goal against Central Christian. Dave Bingham and Ben Bingham scored goals in the loss to Alethia. Zach Bingham made 11 saves.
