Bay County state swimming qualifiers determined

Bay advanced three individuals and a relay team in the Region 1-1A swimming meet last week at Jacksonville Bolles. State qualfiers weren’t determined until all of the region results were tabulated, and the top times compared to tabulate which athletes and relays would join region champions in this week’s state meet.

JD Clutch qualified in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke. He placed sixth in the IM and is seeded 16th in the state meet. He was fourth in the backstroke and is seeded 10th.

Dylan Mock was fifth in the 500 freestyle and is seeded 24th at state, and Phoenix Rine was seventh in the 100 breaststroke and is seeded 19th. The boys 200 medley relay of Clutch, Rine, Aaron Kaufman and Mock was second in the region and is seeded 12th at state.

Bay participates in the Class 1A state meet on Friday in Orlando.

Region 1-2A

Victoria Hove is seeded first in the 200 IM and second in the 100 breaststroke in the state meet for Mosley, but the Dolphins’ boys team perhaps can make the biggest splash with qualifiers in nearly every event.

Arnold qualified Jamie McDonald and Rutherford qualified diver Chris Jackson for the 2A meet, which will be held on Saturday in Orlando.
