Wrestling: Mosley records five titles, six advance to regional

FORT WALTON BEACH — Mosley had five individual champions and finished second as a team in Thursday’s District 1-2A high school wrestling tournament at Fort Walton Beach High School.

Brady Smith (119-pound weight class), Forrest Lang (135), Ryan Newsome (140), Jimmy Kahle (145) and Wes Minchew (heavyweight) won championships and qualified for the regional tournament. Dillon Humphrey finished third at 125 to also advance to the regional meet.

Niceville won the district championship for the 10th straight year.

Mosley will compete in the Region 1-2A tournament at Orange Park Ridgeview next weekend.

District 1-1A

Wewahitchka hosts the District 1-1A meet on Saturday. Arnold, Bay, Bozeman, Marianna Niceville Rocky Bayou Christian, Rutherford and South Walton also will compete. The tournament begins at 10 a.m. with finals in late afternoon.

The top four wrestlers in each weight class advance to next week’s Region 1-1A tournament at Jacksonville Bolles.
