Former Chipley coach McCullough back in Final Four
Ex-Tigers mentor has success with Georgia team
Former Chipley basketball coach Ricky McCullough has another team in a Final Four. The longtime coach of the Tigers has led the Bainbridge (Ga.) boys to a 27-4 record with 20 consecutive wins heading into a state semifinal against Atlanta Mays in Class 4A. Bainbridge had not been to state for more than 30 years and now has advanced in back-to-back years.
The return trip was not expected as Bainbridge lost all five starters from a year ago and opened 7-4. McCullough is in his fourth year at Bainbridge and has an 87-33 overall record with the Bearkats.
McCullough coached the boys for 25 years and the girls for two years at Chipley with a combined overall record of 636-251. He reached the region boys tournament in 21 of his 25 years and posted 15 consecutive district titles. He had four Final Four Appearances with the boys, and took the girls to their only Final Four in school history in his two years.
