Comments 0

Bay 8, Port St. Joe 1: PORT ST. JOE —  Kevin Husum pitched six innings allowing three hits and striking out nine for Bay, 7-1.

Husum was 3 for 5 with two doubles and a run batted in, Nic Gurley was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Harrison McElheney had a double and two RBI and Dylan Barker was 2 for 4.

Port St. Joe pitcher Dylan Hester overcame six errors by his defense to pitch well, Tiger Sharks coach T.C. Brewer said. Hester allowed seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Brewer said Bay capitalized on Port St. Joe's errors and the Tiger Sharks hurt themselves with baserunning errors.

"Their pitcher, Husum, threw very well," Brewer said. "He shut us down pretty well. The errors pretty much killed us. They had some timely hitting with those errors.”

Port St. Joe is 0-6 and will start its District 3-2A season Friday night at Liberty County.

Bay is as at Marianna in District 1-3A on Friday.

Holmes County 9, Chipley 4

CHIPLEY — Jordan Worthing pitched five innings for the win allowing three earned runs while striking out four. Jeremy McGowan was 2 for 2 with two runs and one RBI and Will Thompson was 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Karsten Whitson was 3 for 4 with two solo home runs for Chipley.

The Blue Devils, 6-2, play at Bozeman tonight.
