Bay volleyball coach Peck resigns
Bay volleyball coach Kyle Peck resigned last month, after one season with the Tornadoes. Bay Athletic Director Glenn Manley confirmed the move on Wednesday and said he doesn't yet have a replacement.
Peck, who coached Bay to an 8-10 record and into the semifinals of the District 2-4A tournament, said he doesn't have time to juggle coaching with a full-time job.
"I was hoping it would lead to a teaching position where it would make it easier," Peck said. "Times are tough for teachers these days, for existing teachers, much less hiring a new one.
"I had a great time. The girls are great. The school is great. I'm glad they showed the confidence in me to run their program for a year. I wish things would've worked out where I could've stayed longer, but it wasn't in the cards."
Manley said Bay Principal Mackie Owens will start the search for a new volleyball coach next week.
"The girls liked him, that's the main thing," Manley said. "I go by with what the girls think."
